World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated annually on 26 April. The event was originally setup by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) back in 2000.

Speaking at the launch of the Hong Kong Mediation Handbook, published by Sweet & Maxwell, at the event ‘Enhancement of the Public Understanding of Mediation in Hong Kong’, Dr Raymond Hai Ming Leung, General Editor of the book and Honourary Governor and Founding President of the Hong Kong Mediation Centre explains the coverage of the book and its importance to Mediation in Hong Kong.

Further to the recent launch of the Westlaw HK Student Representative (WSR) Programme, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, Westlaw HK officially launched the 2010 programme in Hong Kong University on 21 January 2010, with the strong support of the Hong Kong University Library and in particular the Law Library.
Following advanced legal research training, the Westlaw HK Student Representatives for Hong Kong University were announced and introduced to their peers, and from today they will start sitting lab hours in the library to assist other students in legal research using Westlaw HK. At the launch, students who signed up for a lab session with the Westlaw HK Student Representatives were entered into a lucky draw for a Thomson Reuters laptop bag and Westlaw HK accessories kit.

Also unveiled was the new Westlaw HK Computer Terminal which has been installed by Westlaw HK at Hong Kong University. This terminal provides dedicated access to Westlaw HK for any student using the library, ensuring that regardless of how busy the Law Library is, there will always be one terminal where Westlaw HK will be available.

Westlaw HK would like in particular to thank the staff at the Hong Kong University Law Library for their dedicated support and enthusiasm for the programme and also for their efforts in setting up this event.
